This drive and recognition of the disparity in diversity of women of colour in the upper ranks and C' Suites within the Canadian Insurance industry led her to co-found Ebony Women International Insurance Network or (EWIIN). “Lift as you Climb” is Shirley’s modus operandi and one of the tenets of EWIIN. EWIIN provides peer mentorship, coaching and networking opportunities via personal and professional development workshops to support women of diverse ethnic backgrounds to achieve their full leadership potential. In my past life, I was a proud member of EWIIN and can attest to the benefits of belonging to this organization including, education, fellowship and sisterhood.
